Charles A. Gardiner, Jr., was born, June 21, 1935 to the late Charles A. Gardiner, Sr., and the late Ida Mae Davis Gardiner in Jennings Louisiana.
He received Christ as his Savior at an early age and was of the Baptist faith.
He departed this life on April 2, 2016 at 2:57 PM at his home of 41 years in Marianna, Florida.
Charles was a very loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed the calling he had to his mission of giving to others in need and to those he visited at the Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center and Signature Healthcare at the Courtyard in Marianna every Sunday. He also took pride in sharing his knowledge and experiences with younger generations. He never met a stranger and always had a smile. The life he lived spoke for the man he was.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. Gardiner, Sr., and Ida Mae Davis Gardiner; his son, Ronald Charles Gardiner; two sisters: Joyce Marie Dover and Etta Pearl Pete; his brother: Chester Gardiner, Sr.; his father-in-law: Henry Clark, Sr.; and his mother-in-law: Aggie Bell Dickens Clark.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Ella Gardiner of Marianna, Florida; his daughter, Grace Gardiner of Quincy, Florida; sons: Donald Ray Pitre (Loretta) of California City, California and Anthony Keith Gardiner of Seattle, Washington; brothers: the Reverend George R. Gardiner (Arzonia) of Webster, Texas and Jerry Nixon (Catherine) of Portland, Oregon; sister: Debra Williams of Lake Charles, Louisiana; eight grandchildren including two special granddaughters he considered as his own: Akenti Ma’at of Las Vegas, Nevada and Miya Angele Gardiner of Atlanta, Georgia; more than ten great grandchildren; nine brothers-in-law; ten sisters-in-law: a close friend, Mervin Gibson, as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends.
