Willie Wilson Obituary

We gather today not to mourn but to celebrate the remarkable life journey of Mr. Willie C. Wilson, affectionately known as Willie C., whose life was a testament to the power of positivity and the strength of the human spirit. Born on the 9th of March, 1935, in the humble town of Cottonwood, Alabama, Willie C. embarked on an extraordinary voyage that would span nearly nine decades, culminating in his peaceful passing on the 7th of October, 2024, in Marianna, Florida.

Willie C.'s story is one of dedication and love, a narrative punctuated by the joy he brought to all who knew him. His life was enriched by the shared journey with his beloved wife, Bobbie Nell Ward Wilson, for a remarkable fifty-three years. Together, they built a legacy of love and kinship that will forever be remembered. Willie C. was the proud patriarch of a family that includes his devoted sons, Vincent Wilson, Victor Ward, and the Reverend Virgil Ward (with his wife Jackie), his cherished grandchildren, Philemon and Ashley, and a host of beloved in-laws: Janet Douglas, Shirley Armstead and Franklin Ward; aunt: Paralee Ward and a special friend Eula Sorey; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were all touched by his gentle and friendly nature.

In his professional life, Willie C. was a stalwart employee of Burton Block Company in Dothan, Alabama, where his handiwork and dedication were as solid as the blocks he helped create. But beyond his work, he was a man of unwavering faith and commitment. At a young age, he accepted Jesus Christ and became a steadfast member of Everlena Missionary Baptist Church of Campbellton, Florida. Later, he continued his faithful service at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cottonwood, Alabama, under watch care, where he was as much a cornerstone of the community as he was in his professional endeavors.

To the family he so dearly loved, Willie C. leaves behind not just memories but a blueprint for living a life full of purpose and joy. To his sons, grandchildren, in-laws, aunt, special friend and the many relatives and friends, Willie C.'s life stands as a beacon of hope and a reminder that every day is a gift to be used for the betterment of ourselves and those around us.

As we bid farewell to Willie C. Wilson, let us do so with uplifted hearts, knowing that his journey continues within each of us, propelling us toward a future where every interaction is an opportunity to build, every challenge a chance to show our true strength, and every day an occasion to spread the same joy that Willie C. shared so generously throughout his blessed life.
