Voncile (Washington) Jackson

Mrs. Voncile Washington Jackson, age 83, of Huntsville, Alabama formerly of Marianna, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Voncile was born on April 16, 1939 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Ernestine Washington Hankins and reared by her grandparents, Fred and Essie Washington of Marianna, Florida.

She was a former member of Mt. Olive AME Church, Marianna, Florida; 1956 graduate and Valedictorian of Jackson County Training School, Marianna, Florida.

She received her Master's degree in Nursing and was a registered nurse at the Dr. W.W. Richardson Hospital in Graceville, Florida. She later retired from J. F. Drake State Community and Technical College, as a Nursing Instructor in Huntsville, Alabama.

After moving to Huntsville, Alabama she joined the Saint Bartley Primitive Baptist Church and served as the Mother of the Church.

Voncile united to Holy Matrimony to Robert Jackson, Jr., who preceded her in death as well as a son, Steven Washington in 1962.

She is survived by three children: Anthony Jackson of Huntsville, Dr. Eric Jackson, MD (Teressa) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Gerald Jackson of Huntsville, Alabama; first cousins, the Reverend Frances Menchion and husband Willie and Howard Jones of Marianna, Florida; several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Saint Bartley Primitive Baptist Church, 3020 Belafonte Avenue, Huntsville, AL, with the Reverend Moody officiating.
