In the warm embrace of Panama City, Florida, the world bade farewell to a soul as vibrant as the most brilliant dawn.
Tanga LaCheryl McElroy, known affectionately to all as Tanga, hath departed this mortal coil on the 20th of July in the year of our Lord 2025. Born under the Floridian sun in Chipley, Florida on the 5th of June in 1960, she was the cherished progeny of Mary McElroy and Lucious Holmes, both of whom preceded her in their own journeys to the everafter. Tanga's earthly sojourn was graced by the presence of her stepfather, George Polk, Sr., and the companionship of siblings Ricky McElroy and Lynn Tubbs.
She leaves behind a rich tapestry of love woven by her beloved daughter and son, Lekisha McElroy and Adrian McCray; her brothers: George Polk, Jr, Leon Polk, and Eddie Polk, (Angela Acree), and Derick Holmes; sisters: Angel, Sandra, Sharolyn, Ella, and Lisa will carry her memory in their hearts. The laughter of her nine grandchildren: Eric, Shavaria, Takishia, Andrey, Ty'Adria, Adrianna, Adrian, Armonie, and Amoura, as well as the innocent smiles of her three great-grandchildren Trenton, Kaizhen, and Kaelani, will echo the joy she spread in life. Her children father, Jeffrey McCray; a multitude of kin, from nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends, shall miss her dearly, as will her special friends, Dana Mitchell, Glenda Sly Hudgens, Dianne Mitchell, and Michael Worlds.
In occupation and service, Tanga was a beacon of exuberance, a woman who painted her world with the hues of a boundless spectrum. Her laughter was a contagion, her dance a summons to joy, and her stories a tapestry of hilarity and human warmth. In her presence, one found the essence of life itself—unrestrained, effervescent, and ever welcoming. Her life was a testament to the power of unbridled happiness and the enduring strength of an open heart.
Tanga, a devout Christian, found solace and strength in her faith. She was a fervent member of Greater Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Panama City, Florida, serving and celebrating with her church family until her health waned. Her spirit, however, remained as indomitable as ever, her belief as steadfast as the stars.
Describing Tanga, one finds themselves grasping for words as loving, funny, and spirited barely scratch the surface of her soul's depth. She lived not by the mundane tick of the clock, but by the throbbing pulse of life's grand dance. She was the embodiment of merriment, an agent of spontaneity, and a purveyor of fond and raucous memories.
We, who are left to tread the earth without her physical presence, will forever treasure the echoes of her laughter, the remnants of her joy, and the luminous memories she has bequeathed us. Tanga LaCheryl McElroy, a rare and wondrous spirit, has taken her leave, yet her rainbow essence will forever color our world.
Let us not weep for her departure but rejoice in the legacy she has left, a legacy of laughter, dance, and boundless love. Her story, a vibrant tapestry, shall be recounted with fondness and a smile, as we carry her in our hearts until time itself fades into the ether.
