Ruby Ellis Obituary

It is with great grace that we announce the passing of Ms. Ruby N. Ellis, who departed this life on December 26, 2024, at 80, in Panama City, Florida.

Ruby was born on October 21, 1944, in Ashford, Alabama and lived a life marked by her Christian faith, boundless love for her family, and unwavering kindness to all who knew her.

Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Hattie L. Brown; her faith, Walt Davis and two cherished brothers, Mark and Jay. While her loss leaves a void in our hearts, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with the Lord.

Ruby leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She is survived by her beloved son, Curtis D. Ellis, Sr. (Von) and her adored grandson, Curtis “Duran” Ellis, Jr.-the lights of her life, whom she loved with all her heart. She also leaves a very special niece, Millicent Reed (Aubrey); two sisters, Angela Brown and Vallery Robinson; a brother, Michael Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold her memory dear.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Mary Bascom, Maybell Session, George Cleveland, Eric Griffin and Bishop Aubrey Reed, Jr., for their love and support during this difficult time. We are deeply grateful for the exceptional care and friendship provided by Jay Stewart, Erin Stewart, Shawna Carlbert, and the staff at Davita. A heartfelt thank you to the medical staff at Gulf Coast Hospital for their care and the drivers at J-Tran for their compassionate service. We would also like to acknowledge Dr. Susan Compton, who stood by Ruby’s side as she peacefully transitioned.

A woman of faith, Ruby was a constant source of joy, encouragement, and strength to everyone she encountered. She believed in the power of love, prayer, and kindness, and her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

May Ruby’s soul rest in eternal peace, knowing she has left an indelible mark on the lives of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Well done, good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:23
