Reverend Frances Menchion Obituary

The Reverend Frances Yvonne Jones Menchion, age 86, on the twentieth day of July, in the year two thousand and twenty-four, the Lord called her home from Panama City, Florida, leaving behind a trail of memories etched in the hearts of those she touched. She was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.

Reverend Menchion was a woman of profound faith and boundless love. She was a native of Jackson County and served with honor and distinction as the (Ret.) Associate Pastor of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church of Marianna, Florida. She grew up in the Mt. Olive African Methodist Church with her family. Her commitment to the Lord's work was paralleled by her dedication to education, having retired from the Jackson County School District where she nurtured countless young minds as an educator.

Her life was a testament to the words of the Apostle Paul, "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13). Reverend Menchion embodied this scripture, living out her faith through acts of love and kindness that knew no bounds. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and her spirit-filled presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to all.

Reverend Menchion was the heart of her family, a family that was her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Florene Jones.

Her legacy continues through her beloved husband, Willie Charles Menchion, and their four children: Wilton Charles Menchion (Judith), Terrie Lafaye Menchion Mills (Lloyd), Carla Denise Menchion, and Kenneth Frederick Menchion (Geraldine). Her memory will be cherished by her siblings, Howard Jones of Marianna, Velma Jones of East Orange, NJ, and Delois Holland Jones of Marianna, Florida. Her ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren will carry forward the light of her love, as will her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, her church family, and friends.

Reverend Menchion was a woman of many virtues—loving, spirited, and faith-filled. Her laughter was a balm to the weary, her counsel a guide to the lost, and her prayers a fortress in times of need. She was a pillar in her community, a role model to the young, and a friend to all. Her life was a living sermon, preaching the gospel not only with words but through her actions and the kindness she bestowed upon others.

As we bid farewell to Reverend Frances Yvonne Jones Menchion, let us not dwell on our loss but celebrate the gift of her life. She has run the race, she has kept the faith, and now she rests in the arms of our Savior. We are comforted by the belief that she has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your master." (Matthew 25:23).

Today, as we reflect on the life of Reverend Menchion, let us honor her memory by living out the love she so freely gave. Let us share her spirit with the world, and in doing so, keep her legacy alive. Until we meet again, may she rest in peace and perpetual light shine upon her.
