Rebecca was born on November 21, 1943 to Benjamin Sr., and Rosa Lee Pace in Port St. Joe, Florida.
Rebecca attended Washington High School. She worked at Raffield’s Fisheries and Port St. Joe Elementary School until she retired in 2005.
In April 1987, Rebecca married her long time companion, Johnny C. Thomas.
As a child, she attended Thompson Temple First Born Church. Then in 1992, she accepted Christ into her life at Body of Christ under Pastor Wilhelmina Williams. Rebecca also attended New Life Christian Center for a long time. Then she decided to return to her childhood church, Thompson Temple to continue to serve as a servant of the Lord.
Rebecca never meet a stranger, she was loving, giving, and caring person and would always told it like it is and would say “I’m Just Rebecca”. There was never a dull moment she always found a way to make you laugh. Family and friends will cherish their memories of happy times they spent with “Becky Poo”.
Rebecca departed this earth on January 30, 2022 and was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Sr., and Rosa Lee Pace; Clyde V. Pace (son), Benjamin Pace, Jr. (brother), Patricia Lewis (Early) (sister and brother-in-law), Ida Pace (aunt), Maddie Brown (aunt), Eddie Julius (brother-in-law), Sheretta Thomas (stepdaughter) and Aaron Prince (grandson).
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Thomas; her children: Ray Charles Pace (Diann), Lavon Caruthers (Lloyd), David Pace (Diane), Charlene Lamar (Fisher Gaddy), Carolyn Clayton (Sammy), Willie Otis Smith, Jr. (Traivia), Randall Smith (Toya); three stepchildren: Donna Foxworth (George), Tarnema Williams (Demetri) and Rodrick Chambers; sisters: Diane Julius and Rocenia Pittman (Howard); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
