Mrs. Olivia Godbold Obituary

Mrs. Olivia "Susta" Godbold, a radiant beacon of light and love, graced this world with her presence on September 24, 1930, in Jacob City, Florida. She danced her way into the heavens on April 8, 2025, in Marianna, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of joy, passion, and unwavering optimism.

Born to the late Samuel Jefferson Henderson, Sr., and Lena White Henderson, Susta was the cherished jewel of a lively family. Her union with her beloved husband, Mr. Eddie Godbold, was a testament to enduring love, spanning 60 glorious years until his passing. She was the heart to her five brothers, Theodore Henderson, the Reverend Samuel Jr., Clifford Eugene Sr., Emmanuel Henderson, and Karl Henderson completed the circle of brotherhood. Her sisters, Callie Henderson Ambers, Frances Henderson, Lillie Henderson Barnes, and Shirley Henderson Pittman, shared in the tapestry of her life, each thread woven with love and laughter. A special cousin, Ozola Gray. She also was preceded in death by her special aunt and uncle, Abraham and Clyde Pittman, along with her cousins Arthur "Shag" Pittman, Willie James "Buddy" Pittman and Matthew James Pittman.

Susta's family tree flourished with the love she bestowed upon her niece Kristina Tomblin and great-nephew Myles Libert will forever treasure the memories etched in their hearts by her presence in their home. Her special cousin Lena Malone, raised as "her sister"; siblings Pastor Marvin Henderson (Irene), Eula Henderson Johnson, Everlyn Henderson Pittman (Joe), and Josephine all of Jacob City, Florida and Latrice Henderson of Georgia; three sisters-in-law: Annie Lee Mack Henderson, Earline Tanner Henderson both of Jacob City, Florida and Sandra Jones of Port St. Joe, Florida who will carry her spirit forward along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Susta's vibrant journey was marked by her passion for fashion, an art she mastered with every outfit she donned. Her career at Macy's was not just a job; it was a stage where she expressed her flair and zest for life. She approached her work with the same enthusiasm and dedication that she did with every endeavor.

Her interests painted a portrait of a woman who embraced life's adventures. Susta's move to New York brought her love and companionship in the form of her husband, a professional boxer. Her faith was her compass, guiding her to the House of Prayer of Deliverance in Queens, New York. When she returned to her roots in Jacob City, Florida, she found her spiritual home at Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church, where she continued to grow and inspire until her final days.

Generosity was the hallmark of Susta's character. She gave not just from her purse, but from her soul, touching lives with her warmth and boundless energy. Passionate about every breath she took, she lived a life that was a vivid expression of her spirit. Optimism was her creed; she saw the silver lining in every cloud and taught others to do the same.

Today, we celebrate a life that was a masterpiece of love, laughter, and faith. Susta's legacy is not one of silence, but one that will echo through the generations. Her story is a testament to the power of living fully, loving deeply, and believing fervently. As we bid farewell to Mrs. Olivia "Susta" Godbold, let us honor her memory by embodying the virtues she exemplified: generosity, passion, and optimism. Her life was a journey of joy, and in her memory, we continue the voyage, inspired by her indomitable spirit. Susta, your light will forever shine in the hearts of those you've touched.
