Georgia Mae Lockridge, a beacon of love and passion, departed from this world on February 20, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia, after a life abundantly filled with joy and music.
Born on September 29, 1940, in Campbellton, Florida, Georgia's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her faith, and her community. Georgia's legacy is one of love and dedication. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Waymond Sr. and Georgia Daniels Williams, and her cherished husband, Elmer O. "Johnny" Lockridge.
Her memory will be carried forward by her adoring children, Christopher (Judy) Lockridge, Mandia McKay, Frances Lockridge, and Gregory (Michaela) Britt, and her grandchildren, Marjorie McKay, Dennisha Wieneke (Brent), Crystiana Walker (Bobby ), Nicholas Lockridge, Nyles Lockridge, Bryana Smart, Dominique Britt , Julia Britt, Otis Williams, Jr., Veronica Serrano, Timothy Britt, Shicala Dickson . Her greatgrandchildren, Denver, Scyence, Cairo, Amari, Brian, and Mikayla, will grow up with stories of their greatgrandmother's loving spirit and passionate soul.
Georgia's siblings, Lear V. Wilson and Hill A. Williams, along with her brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. T. Maurice Lockridge (Anita), Janice Lockridge-Williams (Edward), and Dr. Eura O. Burks, remember her as a pillar of strength and kindness. Her special family, Nancy and Earl Vicks, Earline Benton, Jacob Sorey, Yvonne McKinnie, Barbara, and Walter Brewer, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, will miss her thoughtful presence and the music of her laughter.
A proud graduate of Saint Paul High School in Campbellton, Georgia's commitment to education was a testament to her belief in the power of knowledge. Her professional life was spent in service at Sunland Marianna, from which she retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity. Her dedication to her church, where she served as a pianist, was an expression of her deep faith and her love for her community. Georgia's life was a reflection of her values—she loved her family fiercely and enjoyed the many gatherings that brought them together.
Her interests extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of everyone she encountered with her loving nature. A woman of many talents, Georgia's passion for music and her gift for bringing people together were unmatched.
In the words of Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Georgia embodied this sentiment, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
