His Birth- James Aaron Blount, Sr. was born Sunday, August 7, 1927 to the proud parents Jefferson Blount and Laura Wynn Blount.
His Schooling- He attended St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church School. His teachers were Malena Cotton Blount, Brother J.T. Jackson and other dedicated teachers.
His Skills- At the early age of 5 years old, his father and mother taught him how to work (farming, gardening, caring for chickens, gathering eggs, etc.). Unfortunately, Jefferson Blount passed away in 1935. In 1936, his mother Laura met and married Bud Hollis Jones. Bud was a caring 2nd father to James Sr. He taught James the mechanic trade which was handed down from his father Joe Jones. James Sr. caught on to this mechanic trade very easily. At the age of 9 he repaired his first bicycle. At the age of 15, James repaired his first automobile (A T-Model Ford) which his second father Bud gave him. He worked at Marianna Ford for a time before deciding to farm full-time while working on automobiles for family and friends in Jacob City.
His Religion- James Aaron Blount, Sr. indicated to family he accepted Christ and was baptized at the early age of 9 years old. He was so happy that he found Jesus for himself! His main quote to his family was, "Put God First"! He was a dedicated member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church.
His Marriage- He met and married the gorgeous Ruthie Mae Gillette in January 1948 at the age of 21. Together they had eight beautiful children. With God's help James Aaron and Ruthie Mae encouraged their children to a higher education. All of the girls and his youngest son attended college and excelled in higher education. James, Sr. taught his son’s the mechanic trade and all of them excelled automobile repair and other trades. Through their lifelong learning and mechanic training, his eldest son’s built a very successful automotive repair company Magnolia Auto Service Center in Tallahassee, Florida. James was very proud of all of his children.
His Extended Family- James Sr. leaves a loving family. Brothers, Frank Blount and Arthur Lee Jones; daughters: Betty R. Walton, deceased (Hardie L. Walton, Sr.), Annie L. Kellam (David), Willie Ruth Pittman (Cullen, Deceased), Mary A. Hudson, deceased (William); sons: James Eddie Blount (Lona), James Aaron Blount, Jr. (Pamela), Quentin Blount (Toni), Eddie C. Russ (Teresa), and Anton L. Blount (Karen); thirty-one grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
His Reward- James Aaron Blount, Sr. answered the Lord's call on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 5:00pm. He will surely be missed by all!
