Mr. Hosea Pittman Obituary

Mr. Hosea D. Pittman was born December 3, 1951, in Port St. Joe to M.D. and Queen Pittman.

Hosea, revered as a pillar of strength and unyielding positivity, transitioned on January 9, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him most.

Hosea received his education and graduated from George Washington High School as President in 1969, and later continued his education at Gulf Coast Community College and Troy State University, where he earned his Master's in Psychology.

He had a passion for sports, but basketball was his all-time favorite, which led him to become a Los Angeles Lakers fan. And will let it be known to anybody who he supported.

Hosea enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 21, 1971. While on active duty, he was stationed at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he met the love of his life, Melanie Knight. And they later united in Holy Matrimony on June 15, 1974, and to this union a son was born. After serving 21 years, Hosea retired on April 30, 1991. And he began working as a Psychological Specialist for the Florida Department of Corrections. And after 16 years of doing so, he retired on June 30, 2011.

Hosea was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Roscoe Knight, Sr., who was a WWII Veteran.

Hosea D. Pittman leaves his legacy to his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Melanie Pittman. He is also survived by two sons: Kelsey J. Knight and Eric Lewis; four brothers: Amos Pittman, Donell Pittman, Judge Pittman, and Howard Pittman (Rocenia); and two sisters: Sadie Pittman and Denine Fields. He is remembered by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three god-sisters: Linda Bullock, Linda Tschudi, and Vickie Winfield. He also leaves behind his god-brother, Ulysee Best, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
