To God be the glory for the legacy of, Retired MSgt. Lewis Bernard Vereen, Jr. Born May 25, 1956 in Durham, NC, the eldest son of Lewis B. Vereen, Sr. and Carrie Avent Vereen.
He graduated from Hillside High in 1974, and obtained his Associate's Degree through the Air Force. After leaving high school, Lewis joined the United States Air Force where he honorably served his country for 20 plus years. While serving in the military, Lewis met the queen of his dreams, his wife for life, Elaine D. Vereen. They went on to have three amazing children. After many phenomenal tours with the military, they settled in Port St. Joseph, Florida were Lewis and his entire family answered the call to enroll in the Lord's Army, and join the saints at New Covenant Missionary World Outreach Center under the leadership of Dr. Napoleon and Phyllis Pittman, where he fought the "Good Fight of Faith '' until January 28, 2021, then this warrior transitioned to Glory. Lewis, "Bro. Lew", will be remembered for his faithfulness, his servitude and that contagious smile.
His legacy will continue with his wife Elaine Vereen, his sons Ladwan Harrison (Wife Tyehimba), Lewis B. Vereen III, and Abram B. Vereen; a superhero of a daughter, Elisha M. Vereen; grandchildren: Tyler and Jayden Harrison; a loyal brother, Daryl Vereen, Sr., sister-in-law, Angie Vereen; nephew, Daryl A. Vereen, Jr.; and niece Rhyan Vereen; god sisters: Beverly, Joyce, Elaine and Jeanette; the Reverend Heyward Wiggins III "Wigg" a friend closer than a brother, and a host of other loving relatives and friends especially the "Cecil Street Crew".
