Ludie Everett Obituary

Ludie Mae Johns Everett, a radiant beacon of love and joy, has completed her earthly journey and transitioned into eternal peace on March 25, 2025, in Panama City, Florida.

Born on June 25, 1951, in the warm embrace of Alabama, Ludie's life was a tapestry of deep familial bonds, unshakeable kindness, and an unwavering commitment to living a life filled with purpose and passion.

Ludie's early years in the Washington County School District laid the foundation for a life that would be marked by her dedication to family, a value that was not only instilled in her but also something she nurtured and cherished. She was a compass of morality, a pillar of support, and the heart of every gathering. Her laughter was infectious, her counsel sought after, and her kitchen always open.

The world was truly brighter with Ludie in it. Her hands, always busy with cooking or solving crossword puzzles, were the same hands that held her family together, weaving a tapestry of love and memories that will adorn the hearts of those she touched forever. Her kind spirit and friendly demeanor were not just words used to describe her; they were the essence of her being, the very core of a soul that sought to uplift and embrace everyone she met.

Ludie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Horace and Irene Harris Johns, and her siblings Ada Jones, Jim Johns, Lonnie C. Johns, Moses Johns, Richard Johns, Jacob Johns, and the Reverend James Johns; her daughter, Kathy S. Johns Lee; grandchildren: Madison Everett, Raymond Johns, Jr., and Shaundrea Johnson (Angel). Her long-time companion, Michael A. Williams, Sr., shared years of happiness and companionship with Ludie.

Her legacy, however, continues to flourish through her daughter LaToya (Justin) Brixey of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; her beloved three sons, Raymond (Armandina) Johns, Sr., James Everett, Sr., and Martin Everett Sr., whose lives are testaments to the profound impact of her nurturing love. Her sister, Mae Peterson and brother, Joseph Johns; along with sisters-in-law Willie Mae Johns, Ella Johns, and Debbi Fitzer, will carry forward the light of her wisdom and warmth. Her surviving grandchildren: Cameron Brixey, Steven Johnson, Damien Johns, Michael Vargo, Martin Vargo, Rachelle Vargo, Robert Vargo, Tiashon Everett, James Everett, Jr., Precious Everett, Jayden Everett, Jasmine Everett, Issac (Frog) Everett, Nicholas Everett, Alexis Everett, Martin Everett, Jr. (Junior), Calvin Lee, Jr, Quindarius Lee (MooMoo), JaBrona Lee (NuNu), Jazlyn Lee (Granny), and Jakevion (Pickle) Lee, will forever find guidance in the lessons she imparted and strength in the love she gave so freely.

Special great-grandchildren Darren Perry, Jr., (GitGit) and Jah'Marion (Madeon) will continue to feel her presence in every cherished memory and every lesson learned at her knee. Her special cousins Eloise Jones, Shirley Pittman, and Elnora West will miss her dearly but find comfort in the knowledge that her spirit lives on through the countless lives she touched.

Ludie's life was never about accolades or titles; it was about the simple, profound joy of being surrounded by those she loved. Her work history and association involvement all circled back to what mattered most to her: family. Every meal prepared, every crossword puzzle completed, and every gathering hosted was a testament to her devotion to the people in her life.

Let us not mourn the sunset of Ludie's life but rather celebrate the dawn of her everlasting legacy. She taught us that every day is a chance to be loving, to be kind, and to be friendly. In honoring her memory, we are called to embody these virtues, to hold our loved ones close, and to make the world a better place with our own acts of kindness.

Ludie Mae Johns Everett’s story is not one of ending but of continuous inspiration. Her life encourages us to cherish our connections, to laugh heartily, to love deeply, and to leave an indelible mark on the hearts of those we encounter. May we all carry a piece of Ludie's unwavering light within us, illuminating our paths and guiding us to live as she did—with grace, with joy, and with an abundance of love.
