Lois Pittman Obituary

Lois Elizabeth Richardson Pittman was born on December 29, 1933, in Cottondale, Florida to the late Robert Richardson (father) and Essie B. Russ (mother).

She later united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mathew J. Pittman where they together had a beloved daughter, Glinda Britt Dudley, who also preceded her in death. Lois had three siblings which proceeded her in death: Clora B. Terry, James A. Richardson and Eddie “Bo” Richardson.

During the early years of her childhood, she discovered a love for the Lord and decided to give her life to Christ. Lois became a member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church (St Mary MBC) in Jacob City, FL, and served diligently in many capacities of the church.  Lois served on the Usher Board, sang in the choir, and served on the kitchen hospitality committee. She was very profound and passionate about her love for Jesus and did not allow the walls of St. Mary to limit her service. She was always involved with her church, her family, her community, her job, and with any who she could gain the opportunity to share kindness toward and make you laugh. Lois was the seamless glue that would gently hold things together for her family and friends.

Lois was a phenomenal seamstress and spent many of her years of work at Jackson Apparel and West Point Stevens from which she retired. She possessed a plethora of other skills, talents, and jobs in which she mastered. She also had a special gift to make people laugh. Over the years of her career, she had opportunity to make several friends and build many wonderful memories. She will sincerely be missed by all of her friends, family and loved ones!

She leaves to cherish her memories and legacy to, her devoted and loving son-in-law, Ulysses Dudley; her three granddaughters: DeCarla Gray (Toddie) of Beaufort, South Carolina, Tracey Gilbert (Dexter) of Marianna, Florida and Nichole Thompson (Tarront) of Atlanta, Georgia; two god-grandsons, LaDray Gilbert, Dothan, Alabama and Brandon Gibson of Chipley, Florida; four great-grandchildren, DeVontae Wilson, Toddie Gray, Jr., Amara Thompson and Tarront Thompson, Jr.; two great-great-grandchildren: DeAngelo and Phoenix Wilson; two step- siblings: Annie M. Larry and Curtis Russ; three brothers-in-law: the late Arthur (Lorene), Willie (Mildred), and Joe (Evelyn) Pittman; two sister-in-law; Lena Malone and Dorothy Bailey; As she knew them: Simon Britt (special friend); the Reverend Obadiah White (like a son); Dorothy Gray (like a daughter); Lois has a host of nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; many friends and loved ones who surrounded her with love especially at the end of her journey.
