Mr. Leroy "Lee" Swain III, a beloved family man and pillar of the community, passed away peacefully in Dothan, Alabama on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Born on Sunday, January 2, 1977, in Bonifay, Florida, Lee was known for his loving, kind, and spirited personality that radiated positivity and touched the lives of many.
Lee graduated high school and embarked on a career path that mirrored his compassionate spirit. He made a difference in the lives of many young boys at the Dozier School for Boys in Marianna, Florida and later continued his noble work at Laurel Oaks in Dothan, Alabama. His dedication to helping others and his relentless positivity inspired those around him and left a lasting impact on his community.
Lee was not only a beacon of hope at his work, but also within his family. He is survived by his children: Deante Swain of Dothan, Alabama, Yakez Swain of Marianna, Florida, and Leanndra Swain of Graceville, Florida. He was a devoted father and grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with his granddaughter, Ma'Lanii Swain.
His mother, Evelyn Slack, resides in Dothan, Alabama and his legacy continues through his siblings: Tosha Swain, Danielle Moore (Chad), Amanda Black (Andre), Quenton Swain (Tonia), Terrence Swain, Anthony Swain, Nicholas Swain (Melynda), and Christopher Swain (LaRosa). His memory will also live on through his many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a very special friend, Anthony Davis, and friends who were like family to him.
Lee had an insatiable zest for life. He loved to spend his free time surrounded by family and friends, and his home was always filled with laughter and love. His interests were simple yet profound – he loved to be surrounded by the people he cherished the most.
As we remember Lee, we are reminded of this inspiring quote by Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Lee embodied this sentiment, living a life full of love and kindness that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Lee's legacy is a testament to the power of love, kindness, and a spirited heart. His life serves as a reminder that our actions can inspire and uplift others, and that the most important thing we can do is to love and be loved in return. We are all better for having known Lee, and his spirit will continue to inspire us.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Swain, Jr.; lifetime partner, Carrie Myrick.
Today, we say goodbye to Leroy "Lee" Swain III, but his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those he touched. His life was a testament to the power of positivity, and his spirit will continue to motivate and inspire us. We will remember Lee as a loving father, a devoted son, a caring brother, and a true friend. His kindness will never be forgotten, and his spirit will continue to live on through the lives of those he touched. Rest in peace, Lee. You will be deeply missed.
