Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I'm not there, I did not die.

In humble submission to the Will of God, the management and staff of Christian Memorial Chapel, LLC, sorrowfully announce the earthly departure of Mr. Larry Hayes, Sr.

God dispatched His Angel of Death to relay a message to Larry, "I see your road is rough, and the hill is getting too steep. Come rest your head upon My breast, your soul I will keep.

Larry Collins Hayes, Sr., was born February 14, 1950 in Marianna, Florida to John and Rosia White Hayes.

Larry was a native of Marianna, Florida and retired from the Jackson County Courthouse in Marianna, Florida.

Brother Hayes received his formal education through the Jackson County Florida School System.  He was a graduate in the Class of 1968 from the Jackson County Training School.  Larry was employed at the Jackson County Courthouse where he served for 34 years.

Larry was converted at an early age and joined the Bethel Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor G. B. Baker.  He also fellowshipped with the Church of God by Faith and served as a Deacon under Elder Tom A. Blackmon.  In his later years, he worshipped with his wife, Missionary Louise Hayes at Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Pastor Delano Reed.

Brother Larry was a “Mighty Man of Prayer,” who loved to pray.  When he prayed, the Spirit of the Lord would move and people often testified of how the spirit lifted their hearts and burdens.  Prayer was his ministry.  Larry also had a deep passion for the elderly.  He invested his time by: visiting them when they were sick; and taking them to doctors’ appointments and the pharmacy; and grocery shopping, and taking them to visit with their friends.

Larry was an adventurous and outgoing person who enjoyed riding and visiting stores with his wife, children, family and friends.  He also had a since of humor and would always say, “you gonna let me hold something” and “what you know good.”  He loved to play with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Larry always had a big smile that would brighten up any room that he would encounter.

He is survived by his wife, Evangelist Louise Hayes; children: Brenda Hayes, Gregory Hayes, Sr. (Shannon), Larry Hayes, Jr., Kamona Hayes, Latarsha Gibson and Carlos Pittman; grandchildren: Cicdon Jones, Cortez Jones, Kris Reed, DeShona Reed, Lariekae Barnes, Cierra Barnes, Kierra Barnes, Larry Barnes III, Desmond Hayes, Gregory Hayes, Jr., Larreisha Hayes, Larreka Hayes, TaQuindra Hayes, Jalik Hayes, Harmony Hayes, Shanece Herring, Shaneille Herring, LaKaydria Williams, Deldrick Geathers, Destiny Geathers and DeVonta Geathers, Keyaria Hall (Quay), Dontavious Pittman (Mercedes), Danielle Holden, Quesha Pittman, Raekwon Holden, Jakarin Holden and Jamese Pittman; great grandchildren: Cortez Jones, Jr., Cormorian Jones, Shacari Jones, Amir Gray, Jeihdan Williams, Sariyah Champion, Youvi Battle, Kiefrain Sierra, Reggerio Morrison, Jr., Zion Garner, Zavion Garner, Zyhier Garner, Xy'Ari Garner, Xy'Ori Garner, Asher Herring, Dalani, Lindsey, Jaiden Hall, De’Asia Lindsey and Dominique Pittman; great grandson he help raise, Mar’Quan Brown; sisters and brothers-in-law:  Pastor Vickie S.
