James "Fatman" Myrick Obituary

James Larry Myrick, affectionately known as "Fatman" and "Fats," was born on November 25, 1947, in Jackson County, Florida, to the late Andrew and Bonnie Cill Myrick. He attended Jackson County Public Schools and St. Paul High School.

As he matured, James relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida, where he met the love of his life, Mrs. Etta Anderson Myrick. To each other, they were lovingly known as "Baby" and "Toots." Their bond was built on deep affection and unwavering devotion.

James had a diverse professional career, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic. He worked as a floor technician at Eckerd Drug Store and a maintenance dishwasher at Sand Dollar Restaurant before venturing into business ownership. He successfully ran an auto repair shop and later co-owned and operated Myrick Bros Furniture, where he worked until health challenges required him to step back. Though James and Etta did not have biological children, their hearts and home were always open. They shared their love and support generously, welcoming many into their lives as family. They found joy in traveling, hosting game nights, and cherishing time with loved ones.

James accepted Christ at an early age at St. Paul AME Church in Campbellton, Florida.

In 2010, he rededicated his life to Christ and became a devoted member of Union Missionary Baptist Church in St. Petersburg under the leadership of Rev. Jerry B. Alexander, Sr. He was an active member, singing in the male chorus and serving as president of the Brotherhood Ministry.
