Florice Coleman Obituary

Florice S. Coleman, affectionately known as Mrs. Coleman, was a beacon of love and generosity whose light ceased to shine on this Earth on March 24, 2025. Born to the world on July 8, 1930, in the vibrant city of Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Coleman grew up to embody the very essence of passion and dedication.

Her journey began as a bright-eyed student at Parker High School, where she graduated in 1948, a foundation that would later support the incredible life she built. On March 7, 1948, in the quaint town of Bessemer, Alabama, she married the love of her life, Alexander Coleman, Sr. Their union was one of legendary love, lasting 63 years, and together they nurtured a family that would grow to be her greatest legacy.

Mrs. Coleman's life was a testament to the power of unwavering commitment. She devoted herself not only to raising her eight children but also to serving her community through her involvement with New Zion Bible Way. Her home in Dothan, Alabama, became a haven of warmth and guidance, a place where anyone could find a comforting word and a generous spirit.

She was a matriarch in the truest sense, leaving behind a family that revered her. Though preceded in death by her beloved husband Alexander Coleman, Sr.; her son Ronald Coleman; and her daughters Myra Cody, Helen Coleman, Annette Coleman, and Janette Ward, her legacy will live on through her sons, Alexander Coleman, Jr. (Maranda Coleman) and Herbert Coleman. Her sisters-in-law, Yvone and Millistine Coleman, along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, will continue to walk in the light of her wisdom and love.

Mrs. Coleman's life could be summed up by the inspiring words of Helen Keller: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Indeed, the most beautiful parts of her life were the invisible threads of love and care she wove into the fabric of her family and community.

A loving soul, Mrs. Coleman's generosity knew no bounds. She poured her heart into every endeavor and loved without restraint. Her passionate nature was not just reserved for her family but extended to everyone she met. She believed in the power of kindness and lived by the principle that a life of giving was a life well-lived.

As we reflect on the remarkable life of Mrs. Coleman, let us not dwell on the sorrow of her departure but instead celebrate the countless moments of joy and love she gifted to us. Her legacy is a blueprint for living a life rich with purpose and affection. It is now up to us to carry forward the torch of her vibrant spirit, to live passionately, love generously, and impact the world as profoundly as she did.

In closing, let us remember that while we may no longer see her smile or hear her voice, the essence of Florice S. Coleman remains with us. Her life, an exquisite tapestry of devotion, serves as a reminder that our actions, steeped in love, are the true measure of our legacy. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, let us hold tight to the memories, let them inspire us to live with the same love and generosity that she exemplified every day.

Goodbye, Mrs. Coleman. Your journey here has ended, but your story, your love, and the passion with which you lived will resonate through generations. Your life was a masterclass in the art of giving, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Rest in peace, dear matriarch, until we meet again.
