Emily Ruth White, of the Springfield Community, Marianna, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 1, 2021 in Southeast Hospital, Dothan, Alabama.
Emily Ruth White was born on January 8, 1943 to the late Edward Hall, Sr. and the late Alice Hall in Pasadena, California. In 1954 her family moved to Los Angeles, where Emily attended Fremont High School. In 1959, while walking home from school one day, Emily met the man who would become her husband. In 1960, after graduating from high school, Emily was joined in Holy Matrimony to her soulmate, the late Franklin White, Sr. Their union was blessed with four children, Terri Ann, Franklin, Jr., Leonard and Trudi Lynn.
Emily White accepted Christ into her life as a youth and was a longtime member of Gospel Haven Baptist Church in Compton, California.
Emily White was a devoted wife and mother. She was dedicated homemaker and a stay-at-home mom until all of her children were in school. Emily later worked outside the home as an Office Manager in the furniture sales industry. She also served as the bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Frankie’s Stop & Save Gas Station and Mini Mart in Compton, California.
In 1996, Emily White and her husband moved to her husband’s hometown of Springfield (Marianna, Florida). Although born and raised in the city, Emily was a country girl at heart and took to Springfield like a fish in the Mill Pond, just as if she were born there. After settling in Springfield, Emily worked as Office manager in the real estate industry and for the Florida Department of Corrections.
Emily became a member of Springfield African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served faithfully for many years.
Emily White had a sweet spirit; she was truly a kind soul. Emily was friendly to anyone she met, exceedingly generous, and always exhibited a pleasant demeanor. Emily lived by the Golden Rule; not because she expected anything in return, but simply because she had a sweet soul.
Emily White was the consummate hostess and enjoyed hosting family get-togethers, pool parties, barbeques, and other social gatherings with family and friends. Emily was an avid reader; she also enjoyed music and played the piano. In her later years, Emily enjoyed spending time in her “cubby hole,” where she loved watching her favorite programs, such as figure skating and Dancing with the Stars.
In 2010, Emily White joined Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Jacob City, Florida. Her services were in many ministries including serving as a faithful and devoted Deaconess.
Emily White was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Franklin White, Sr., her eldest son, Franklin White, Jr., and her brother, Edward Hall, Jr.
