Obituary

Earnest Liddell Young III, "Pokey" was born on Sunday, May 17th 1981, in Marianna, Florida to Earnest Young, Jr. “Bug or Disco”, and Rosalyn Barkley Young.

He was baptized at an early age and was a member of Third United Holiness Church in Graceville, Florida. Earnest was an active choir member during his youth.

Earnest “Pokey” graduated from Graceville High School in 2001, where he loved playing football. After graduating high school Earnest moved to Panama City, Florida, where he was employed with the City of Panama. He enjoyed going out to eat and trying different types of cuisine.

On March 3rd of 2010, God blessed Earnest with a beautiful daughter, Eyannah Young. Pokey loved and enjoyed being a father. He loved doing and participating in different things in her life.

Pokey loved all his family and friends dearly. He loved talking for hours with them and taking pictures. He was well known for supporting family and friends' children in any sport or activity they participated in. Hearing him call you by your full name was nothing but love from his heart.

Earnest Liddell Young III “Pokey” departed this life peacefully on the morning of Friday, December 30, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earnest Young, Jr.; paternal grandparents: Earnest Young, Sr. and Elizabeth Young; and his maternal grandmother Joyce Copper; other relatives and friends.

Those who dearly loved Earnest Liddell Young III “Pokey” will continue to cherish, treasure, and remember those special memories he left behind are: his daughter, Eyannah Young of Panama City, Florida; his mother: Rosalyn Young of Panama City, Florida; two brothers: Andre Young of Graceville, Florida and Benitrez Young of Kentucky; his sisters: Amber Young of Lakeland, Florida  and Kadyshia Young of Slocomb,  Alabama; his stepmother: Darlene Dent-Hayes of Slocomb, Alabama; his favorite aunt: Ola Mae Robinson (Sam Robinson, Sr.) of Graceville; niece; Adriana Young of Dothan, Alabama; and a host of nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and special friends who also lament his demise.
