1st Sgt. (Ret) John Booker Obituary

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
It is well with my soul,
it is well, it is well with my soul.

In humble submission to the will of God, Christian Memorial Chapel, LLC. sadly announces the passing of Mr. John Oscar Booker, "Johnny Boy".

John was born March 14, 1952 in Zellwood, Florida to Tony and Turner Mae Booker.

He attended St. Paul High School and Chipola College. He joined the U.S. Army and served 20 years. He was then employed at West Florida Electric Cooperative where he retired after 20 years.

John was devoted to his family. He was a great friend to many and some would say he never met a stranger. He loved fishing and was a hard working man even after retirement. God said well done, good and faithful servant and called him home April 18, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Turner Mae and Tony Booker, Jr.; grandparents: Willie and Ressie Reynolds; and most recently a brother, Willie “Fat Mouth” Booker.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie Pearl Booker of Campbellton, Florida; his children: Marcus A. Booker and wife LaTrisha of Tallahassee, Florida and Kimberly L. Booker of Pensacola, Florida; two grandchildren: Makenzi Booker and Mathew Booker; his beloved aunt, Katie Gordon; sisters and brothers: Ronald Keith Booker, Glory Booker-Reynolds both of Orlando, Florida, Reginald (Doris) Booker, Tommy Lee Booker, and Elizabeth B. Lee all of Pensacola, Florida, Carolyn Booker of Williston, South Carolina, Rosemary (Jerald) Blue of Morriston, Florida, Raymond Booker of Apopka, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Although we are saddened by his passing, we rejoice in knowing that he’s in a land “where he’ll never grow old.” Farewell, Johnny Boy. You were called forth by God, and your soul was truly blessed. We will not weep and mourn because we don’t see you on this side anymore. We know that you’ll be waiting to meet us on the other side.

Please keep the Booker family in prayer, as we reflect the gracious memories.
