Minnie Fennell Obituary

When I’ve gone the last mile of the way,
I will rest at the close of the day;
And I know there are joys that await me,
When I’ve gone the last mile of the way.

Minnie Glen Floyd (Fennell) was born on August 8, 1942, in Campbellton, Florida, to the late Gentle Floyd and the late Era Mae Floyd (Robinson).  Her early education was received in the Jackson County School System.  Later she moved to Port St. Joe, Florida where she graduated from Washington Senior High School.

She met and married Zebedee Fennell.  From this union four children were born:  Era Dionne, Candace Lashawn, Derrick Tramane and Raymond Gregory, affectionately known as Tony.

Minnie and her family moved to Okeechobee, Florida in 1965. While in Okeechobee, she worked as a Cottage Parent for the Florida School for Boys and then the Okeechobee County School District as a Teacher’s Aide.   Minnie retired from the Okeechobee County School District in 2002.

God gave her the gift of giving and she never hesitated to give to anyone that was in need.  She was also  a great cook.  She touched many lives with her food and her cooking brought people from many different background together.

Minnie gave her life to Christ at an early age.  While in Okeechobee, she attended Bethel Baptist Church and New St. Stephens A.M.E. Church.  When she moved to Lake Worth, Florida, she worshipped at St. Paul A.M.E. Church.

She is loved and missed by her family, many relatives and friends!

Please keep the Fennell family in prayer, as we reflect the gracious memories.

Farewell My Friends
It was beautiful
As long as it lasted
The journey of my life.
I have no regrets
Whatsoever said
The pain I’ll leave behind.
Those dear hearts
Who love and care...
And the strings pulling
At the heart and soul...
The strong arms
That held me up
When my own strength
Let me down.
At the turning of my life
I came across
Good friends,
Friends who stood by me
Even when time raced me by.

Farewell, farewell My friends
I smile and
Bid you goodbye.
No, shed no tears
For I need them not
All I need is your smile.
If you feel sad
Do think of me
For that’s what I’ll like
When you live in the hearts
Of those you love
Remember then
You never die.
