James Martin Obituary

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
It is well with my soul,
it is well, it is well with my soul.

In humble submission to the will of God, Christian Memorial Chapel sadly announces the passing of Mr. James E. Martin, (James Ward) age 59.

Mr. Martin transitioned into eternal rest and peace Monday, January 7, 2019 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City, Florida.

Although we are saddened by his passing, we rejoice in knowing that he in a land "where he'll never grow old."

Farewell, James, you were tired and needed your rest. You were called forth by God, and your soul was truly blessed. We will not weep and mourn because we don't see you on this side anymore. We know that you'll be waiting to meet us on the other shore.

James E. Martin aka James E. Ward was born October 4, 1959 to Martha E. Ward Freeman and Lawrence Martin, Sr. in Port St Joe, Florida.

James attended Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church in Port St Joe, Florida at a early age, until he enlisted into the military.

James attended school at George Washington Elementary School and Port St. Joe High were he graduated in 1977.

After graduating from High School, James enlisted in the United States Navy where he serves for eleven years. After moving to Panama City Florida, he was employed with North America and Mayflower moving company.

He leave to cherish one daughter: Charron Addison of Tallahassee Florida; stepfather: Arthur Freeman; his siblings: Yolanda Pittman, Cathy Williams (Clifford), Darrell Ward, Elder Arion Nick Ward (Debbie), Dexter Baxter, Annette Davenport, Lawrence Martin, Jr., Carl Martin, Paul Wright, Melvin Martin, Eunice Martin, Dennis Martin, Rusty Martin, LaShunda Martin, Audrey Lowery (Pastor Robert III), Sharon Freeman, Montez Freeman, Valeria Freeman, Larry Freeman (Sylvia), Debra Freeman, Brenda Garland (James), Alvin Freeman and Calvin Freeman (Erica); a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Our father, brother, uncle, and friend would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received a call on Monday, January 7, 2019, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, dancing, gardening and reading to his heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. He left detailed instructions for his daughter and family to celebrate his mission here, which has now been completed.

Please keep the Ward and Martin family in prayer, as we reflect the gracious memories.
