When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
It is well with my soul,
it is well, it is well with my soul.
In humble submission to the will of God, Christian Memorial Chapel sadly announces the passing of Mr. George Barnes of Marianna, Florida.
He was a member of Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Marianna and the son of the late Josephine and Charlie Barnes of Marianna, Florida.
He was the 13th child born to his loving parents. Four siblings preceded him in death: Reverend Harold H. Wynn, Sr., Eleanor W. Copeland, Charlie Barnes, Jr., and Tommie M. Barnes.
George joined Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the Reverend Dr. A. H. Parker.
A graduate of Marianna Adult Education in 1981.
He was employed by the Jackson County School Board with Riverside Elementary School being his base station. At Riverside, George was deeply loved at Riverside by both students and faculty. He was very dependable and loved Riverside as if they were a part of his family. He will be sadly missed at the school as a custodian. He was a great lawn man. He kept Saint Luke grounds looking good and just about every Sunday morning you would see him blowing the leaves. He loved his jobs and he was always trying to make sure everybody was happy with his work.
