Bishop Arthur E. Cutler, Sr.

Bishop Arthur E.  Cutler was born April 1, 1933 in Fairfax, GA. He was one of 8 children born to the late Bishop William Cutler and Rosa Cutler.

Accepting Jesus Christ and marrying the late Geneva P. Cutler he served faithfully in several notable areas of ministry. Earlier years, he became an ordained minister of Refuge Temple Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Lakeland, FL and later a Pastor of Greater Southern Emanuel in Tampa, FL.

Upon moving to Panama City, FL, he became a member and served 10 years as a minister of St. Temple Holiness Church. After several years of evangelizing, he then became a member and Bishop of the Apostolic House of Prayer, Inc. where she served faithfully for over 30 years.

A Marine Veteran, who served in the Korean War, Bishop Cutler proceeded to Worsham College in Chicago, IL and graduated in 1962 with a degree in Mortuary Science becoming both a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer working in various funeral locations in southern Florida. In 1970, he moved to Panama City as Licensed Funeral Director to form a partnership with the late Mr. Willis C. Battle at Williams Funeral. From this union the birth of Memorial Funeral Home was established which later changed to Battle Memorial Funeral Home. After dissolving the partnership, he became an independent contractor working throughout the years with both People’s Funeral Home and Christian Memorial Chapel. In addition to working as a Funeral Director, he was also employed by Gulf Coast State College which he retired from after 20 years of service. Bishop Cutler served the Panama City community in various capacities to include Vice President of the local NAACP chapter. Bishop and his wife leave behind a legacy of integrity, kindness and service to both family and the community for which they served for over 51 years.

Bishop Cutler was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Evangelist Geneva P. Cutler; one brother, Homer Cutler and one sister, Frances Cutler.

He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter: Frances Cutler-Robinson (Johnny), Jacksonville, FL; two sons: William Cutler (Rochelle), Panama City, FL; Arthur E. Cutler, Jr. (Corine), Panama City, FL; four brothers: Dr. Albert Cutler, Tampa, FL; Reverend George Cutler (Rose), Detroit, MI; Wallace Cutler, Ypsilanti, MI; Ronald Cutler (Natalie), Atlanta, GA; two sisters-in-law: Verneva Holmes, Trenton, NJ; and Althea Cutler, Tampa, FL; devoted grandchildren: Michelle Cutler and Arthur E. Cutler III both of Panama City, FL; 11 grandchildren,12 great –grandchildren and host of cousins, nieces, nephews , other relatives and friends.
