Welcome to the memorial page for

Willie A. Douglas

December 18, 1953 ~ February 14, 2015 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Mr. Willie A. Douglas age 61 of Blountstown, Florida and formerly of Dothan, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on Saturday February 14th in the Calhoun-Liberty Hospital in Blountstown, Florida.

Celebration of life will be Friday, February 20, 2015, 6:30 PM, Patterson  Street Freewill Baptist Church, Dothan, Alabama.

Mr. Willie Albert. Douglas, Jr. affectionately known by his family as “Boonie” and by many as “Douglas”, was born on December 18th 1953 in Dothan, Alabama to the late Mr. and Mrs. Will (Cora) Douglas.

Due to health concerns Douglas relocated to Florida several years ago. During that time he resided at Bonifay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and later moved to Bonifay Assisted Living. In recent weeks he spent time at the Doctor Memorial Hospital in Bonifay, however due to complications with pneumonia was relocated to River Valley in Blountstown, Florida. He passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 14th at 12:02 PM at Calhoun Liberty Hospital in Blountstown, Florida.

During his early life, Douglas was a member of North Highland Missionary Baptist Church and though he graduated from Graceville High School, he maintained undying loyalty and love for his Dothan High School Class of 1971.

Douglas served in the United States Army and was interested in law. He was a self-educated paralegal always willing to give advice. He worked as a carpenter and in the field of auto body restoration.

Douglas could be a handful at times but at heart was a sweet man who always expressed love for, and great pride in his children, his family, his friends and his beloved classmates. To him these people were the best people in the world who could do anything for you at any time. If he could not help you himself, he would find someone who would.

Douglas is preceded in death by his mother and father: Mr. Will and Cora Lee Douglas; grandmother, Mrs. Evernesia Harvey; and his aunt: Mrs. Sally Conley.

He is survived by his uncle: Donald Pittman of Graceville, Florida; his children: Keith Thomas (Erica) of Ozark, Alabama, Samone Dixon of Dothan, Alabama and Eric Jones, Sr. of Greenville, Tennessee; as well as his sister, Olivia Ware; brothers: Willie P. Reynolds, Jr. and George A. Reynolds all of Dothan, Alabama; seven grandchildren: along with special friends: Elder  James C. Brown, Sr., James Smith, Bill Ward and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wisdom 4:7-15

But the just man, though he die early, shall be at rest. For the age that is honorable comes not with the passing of time, nor can it be measured in terms of years. Rather, understanding is the hoary crown for men, and an unsullied life, the attainment of old age…
