Irma (Jenny) J. Johnson

Irma “Jenny” J. Johnson was born March 6, 1913, in Hartford, AL to the late John and Viola (Mobley) McCloud. Irma excepted Christ at an early age. She became a member of County Line Missionary Baptist Church.

She met and married Preston Johnson Sr., and from this marriage blossomed a great garden of flowers.

Irma and Preston moved the family to Boston, MA where she worked at Massachusetts General Hospital and Northeastern University for many years until moving back to Slocomb, AL in 1976.

To her family and friends “Jenny” was warm, bright and a beautiful person and would help you in any way she could. She truly was an inspiration to many people and deeply loved her family. Irma went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2016 in Ozark, AL.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Preston Johnson Sr., son Joe Johnson and five sisters and two brothers.

“Jenny” leaves to cherish  her blossoming children; Willie Mae Morris and Eva Grace Airhart of Chicago, IL, Doris Dennis, Ellie C. Robinson, Jack (Emily) Johnson all of Boston, MA, Irma Smith, Slocomb, AL,  Madie (Frank) Hampton of San Antonio, TX and Preston Johnson, Jr. of Slocomb, AL, and Kubadean (Floyd) Priester  of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law: Joyce Johnson of Stone Mountain, GA. thirty-seven grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren and twenty five great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
